Playing fantasy baseball this season? Well you’re in luck because here are the Top Ten Second Basemen that will be a position of strength with one of the guys mentioned below.
- Jose Altuve, Hou: Altuve burst onto the scene last year cementing himself as the league’s top second basemen. Hitting a career-high 15 homers, the power was a nice surprise for fantasy owners. He is pretty much a lock for 200 hits and 30 stolen bases. Even though he doesn’t have the stature of some stereotypical first-round picks, Altuve is a safe pick near the bottom half of the first round in all formats.
- Dee Gordon, Mia: If you are a fan of speed, Flash Gordon is your guy. The league leader in steals the least two seasons (64 in 2014, 58 in 2015), he will rack up steals faster than anyone else. When picking Gordon, you are relying on his steals, high average (hit .333 last year) and the runs he scores (should hit the 90-run mark). Gordon can be grabbed at the end of the second round, so if you do choose to pick him, make sure the other players on offense can carry your power numbers.
- Robinson Cano, Sea: Whaddya know, it’s our old friend, Robbie Cano! The former perennial all-star found himself in quite the struggle last season. He hit a measly .251 with six homers in the first half of the season in Seattle. He found his stroke after the break and ended up posting respectable numbers. I fully expect him to continue that success and have a very good 2016. With his ADP in the fourth round, he could add massive value to your lineup.
