MLB suspended Melky Cabrera for 50 games without pay for testing positive for Testosterone. Very disappointing news for the Yankee we named, the Melkman.
Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com hears that the test happened around the All-Star break and has been hung up in the appeals process since. The 50-game suspension will keep him sidelined for the rest of the regular season. It’s a tough blow to the Giants’ playoff hopes and will have a big impact on Cabrera’s potential payday in free agency this off-season. The 28-year-old was batting .346/.390/.516 with with 11 home runs, 60 RBI and a .906 OPS in 113 games played this season.
