NEW YORK — Didi Gregorius continued his torrid start to the season, hitting a home run for the fourth straight game. This helped lift the New York Yankees 7-4 over the Minnesota Twins in the third game of this four-game set at Yankee Stadium.
Sonny Gray started the game and was once again ineffective for New York, but the Yankee offense picked him up with a strong night at the plate.
Gregorius led the way with three hits and two RBI, while Tyler Austin added a three-run homer in the win. Gleyber Torres reached base and scored twice from the bottom of the New York lineup.

The Twins got on the scoreboard first, with Miguel Sano smashing a Gray fastball over the bullpen in left center field for an early 2-0 lead.
Gregorius, however, would tie the game for the Bombers. In the second, he’d cut the lead in half with an RBI single, before tying it up with a home run in the third.
Austin then hit a three run shot off of Lance Lynn later in the inning to give New York a 5-2 lead.
The teams would continue adding runs to their tally over the next few innings, but the Twins’ biggest chance came in the seventh inning.
With just one out, and a run already in, Aaron Boone pulled Chad Green for Chasen Shreve. The Yankee lefty would first strikeout Logan Morrison for the first out. Austin would then make a great play on a Robbie Grossman popup to get New York out of a bases loaded jam.

Giancarlo Stanton added a sacrifice fly in the eighth to give the Yankees some insurance.
David Robertson, however, held down the eighth, and Aroldis Chapman got his fourth save of the year.
This was another good win for the Yankees as it looks like the team has finally turned away from their early season slump. It was a misty night in the Bronx, but New York was able to earn its fifth straight win.
The Yankees look for the sweep tomorrow, as Jordan Montgomery faces Kyle Gibson in the final game of their homestand.
