TEXAS — Once again, the Yankees got contributions from up-and-down their lineup, as they defeated the Texas Rangers, 10-5, at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
Though Masahiro Tanaka did not pitch great, a 10-run, 12-hit outburst from the offense was more than enough for New York’s 31st win of the season. The team remains a half game above Boston in the standings.
Everyone in the lineup got a hit, except Tyler Austin, with four accumulating a couple of knocks. The Rangers were able to answer back early on, but a three-run sixth provided the separation the Bombers needed.
New York’s eight and nine hitters, Neil Walker and Gleyber Torres, were in the middle of it all.

Walker opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning, while Torres hit a home run that brought him home later in the frame.
Playing for the resting Miguel Andujar at third base, Walker hit his first Yankee homer in the fourth. Torres then added his second round-tripper off of Bartolo Colon in the sixth inning.
The game was close in the early stages, as Texas used the long-ball as well. First, Joey Gallo hit a towering shot to right center field in the second, before Rougned Odor cut the Yankee lead to just a run, 5-4, with a three-run shot off of Tanaka in the fourth.
The Yankee started ended the night, giving up just three hits but allowing four earned runs and four walks. Colon, however, gave up six runs in the losing effort.
In the win, Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks also hit a home run each to help their team’s cause.

Jonathan Holder pitched a clean ninth inning, as he sealed the New York win and continued a string good pitching performances from him since being recalled from the minor leagues.
