Game 112: CC’s Struggles With Boston Continue

CC Sabathia has made the entire MLB look a step or two behind him wherever he goes…except Boston. Now, 4 of his 6 losses this season have come to the Boston Red Sox. The 16-game winner continues to have a hard time figuring out how to pitch to the Red Sox as he lasted 6 innings but gave up 7 runs in today’s 10-4 loss.

Centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury swung the big bat for Boston as he drove in a career-high 6 runs today, including a three-run home run off of Sabathia. Leftfielder Carl Crawford, who has been having a tough time this season, had 4 hits today, 3 off of Sabathia.

The Yankees had opportunities to score off of John Lackey but did not make the most of them as numerous hitters, including Curtis Granderson & Mark Teixeira, struck out with less than 2 outs and at least one runner in scoring position.

CC Sabathia’s struggles with the Red Sox are alarming to the Yankees fans due to the intensity of the rivalry and the undeniably close race of the AL East. The race for leader of the AL East is now tied due to a split of the first 2 of 3 games in Boston and will be decided tomorrow night in the matchup between the Yankees, Freddy Garcia and the Red Sox, Josh Beckett.
