In a 5-4 loss, a controversial call could be considered as a deciding factor. In the 3rd inning, Billy Butler hit a home run that required the use of instant replay. Many have disagreed with this decision as the replay convinced the umpires that there may have not been conclusive evidence to overturn their call or that they thought it was but in what turned out to be a one-run game, this decision looks bigger.
Curtis Granderson did hit his 34th home run of the season but the Yankees struggled at capitalizing on opportunities with runners in scoring position too.
