Game 127: Coco Crushes Yankees

For a team that came in with half the number of home runs as the Yankees, they sure swing the bat well. After rookie first baseman Brandon Allen hit two home runs yesterday, Coco Crisp flexed the same muscles, with a two home run game tonight.

Coco Crisp took CC Sabathia deep in the first inning with a solo home run to start the offense and ended up delivering the final runs of the game with a three-run home run in the 10th inning. Crisp had 5 of the 6 runs driven in in tonight’s game.

Nick Swisher’s bat remained hot as he also hit two home runs tonight. Mark Teixeira hit his 35th home run of the season to tie for 2nd in the league with teammate Curtis Granderson.

Athletics starting pitcher Trevor Cahill entered tonight’s game with very poor statistics against the Yankees but went 6 innings tonight and allowed just 2 runs. CC Sabathia went through a majority of the game smoothly despite the early home run by Coco Crisp but he did not factor into the decision of tonight’s game.

Rafael Soriano gave up the three-run home run to Coco Crisp and took the loss as he had his first poor outing since coming off of the disabled list.
