Game 129: A.J. Continues Awful Season

With Hurricane Irene approaching the northeast, the millions prepare for rough days ahead. Unfortunately for the Yankees fans, the rough games that are A.J. Burnett starts continues to torture us as we fall to the Baltimore Orioles 12-5.

A.J. Burnett was left out to give up 9 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings because the damage the wild right-hander needed to be kept to 1 game and preserve the bullpen from being burned out. A six-run 2nd included six extra-base hits, two of them being home runs.

Despite the familiarity of a 6-run deficit following the previous history-making game, the Yankees did not rally back. Nick Swisher continued to swing a big bat as his 19th home run was a two-run blast on to Eutaw Street. Alex Rodriguez hit his first home run since coming off the disabled list as well.
