Game 130: Colon Outdueled in Game 1

Single runs in the 7th and 8th inning gave the Orioles the 2-0 lead and the win in a pitcher’s duel between Bartolo Colon and Zach Britton.

The first run to score came on a single by Vladimir Guerrero and when the pitchers are throwing zeroes, one run usually wins it.

The Yankees managed 4 hits against the 23-year old righty. 2 of Mark Teixeira’s 3 hits were off of him.

Bartolo Colon bounced back well from a poor start in which he gave up 5 runs to the weak offense of the Oakland Athletics. This start looked much better as he used his two-seam fastball with confidence and gave up enough runs that on any other day, the Yankees would have scored enough to support him.
