Game 33: The Melkman Returns In Losing Effort

The fan favorite, and a personal favorite of mine, Melky Cabrera, returned tonight with the visiting Kansas City Royals. He made the most of his return with a no-doubt home run to centerfield to provide the only offense for the Royals.

Freddy Garcia appeared shaky in the first inning but settled down and effectively went 6 innings. David Robertson and Joba Chamberlain were the bridge to Rivera.

Derek Jeter continued his hot hitting with two hits including a two-out single to drive in Brett Gardner after his triple. Alex Rodriguez broke the 1-1 tie with a bases-loaded, two-run single.
