Game 36: Sabathia’s First Loss

The offensive struggles lead to CC’s first loss of the season in tonight’s 5-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

 

Taiwanese rookie left-hander, Wei-Yin Chen limited the Yankees offense to just 2 runs on 4 hits. The runs came on Curtis Granderson’s 13th home run of the season to left field. Rallies were killed on three occasions with double plays. The Yankees struggles with runners in scoring position was evident again as they went 1 for 9.

 

CC Sabathia was not as effective as he usually is. In tonight’s game, Sabathia did not go 8 innings and needed 103 pitches to get through just 6. J.J. Hardy continues to be a problem for the Yankees as he accounted for 2 runs. Sabathia also gave up a season-high 8 hits.
