Everything appeared to go wrong for the Yankees tonight. CC Sabathia didn’t have his best stuff as he went 6.2 innings and gave up 6 runs.
Beckett on the other hand, was absolutely dominant against the Yankees yet again. He struck out 9 Yankees over 6 innings without allowing a run. The Yankees only managed one extra base hit, a double by Nick Swisher. They also continued to struggle with runners in scoring position, going 0 for 10 tonight.
Another story which took place during tonight’s game happened about an hour prior to the beginning of the game. Jorge Posada was initially in the lineup to be the #9 hitter. Later, he requested to be taken out of the lineup.
Many of the reports and moments with the media for Cashman, Girardi, and Posada have some gaps in their stories that lead me to believe there is more to this than what has been said. Jorge Posada does not believe he will be ready for tomorrow’s game so we will see how this develops as the season continues.
