Game 45: Yanks Take Subway Series on 8-Run 7th

Hitting with runners in scoring position has been one of the biggest flaws in our game this season. The Yankees addressed that in today’s finale of the Subway Series in the Bronx. The Yankees went 5 for 10 with runners in scoring position today and had an 8-run 7th inning without a home run. Prior to the 7th inning, Mike Pelfrey was stifling the Yankees whenever they got runners on, forcing them to be 0 for 11 with runners on base.

Ivan Nova had a bend-not-break outing as he went 6.2 innings and gave up 11 hits but only 3 runs.

a good day is when we give up 11 hits and still win the game. great RISP % – playing much better ball as of late – good defense, and swing the bats fellas.

Felt bad for Cervelli early when they initially gave him the error, I was just like "Did he really need an error charged to him for something Jeter did?" Glad Jeter ended up getting it.

Loved to see them finally scoring with RISP. I'm not against home runs, but it felt good to see them add some variety to their game. Still not for the bunt, but we'll see how that works as the season progresses, because it certainly doesn't look like Girardi will be removing that from his strategy.
