Game 65: Offense Strikes Without Captain

Despite the fact that Captain, Derek Jeter, was placed on the disabled list tonight, the Yankees offense struck quickly on young star Alexi Ogando.

Ogando entered tonight’s game with a 7-0 record and an ERA around 2.00. However you would not think that by what he showed tonight in the Bronx. He went 1.2 innings and gave up 6 runs.

Curtis Granderson continues to swing a hot bat as he hit a home run tonight to tie with Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista for the MLB lead. The offense dished out a total of 14 hits to score 12 runs tonight to support CC Sabathia.

If the Captain returns after the 15 days he is required to stay on the disabled list for, he will return at the end of the series in the Bronx with Milwaukee. An interesting twist is that the following two series takes place in Citi Field with the Mets (still in New York) and Progressive FIeld with the Indians (Cleveland, the late George Steinbrenner’s hometown)
