Game 70: Swisher’s Smash Takes Series

With the game tied at 4 in the 8th, the Yankees needed 1 run to get the lead and they had 2 runners on base with Nick Swisher at the plate. The rookie Chris Carpenter pitched in such a big situation because of injuries and an overused reliever. Swisher took advantage of the situation and hit a three-run home run to give them a lead that would be added to later.

CC Sabathia got through 7 innings despite giving up a three-run home run to former Yankee Alfonso Soriano.
