The Yankees started the game by giving Nova a 4-0 lead. He gave up 1 run in the 1st but that was all of the offense until the 9th.
The bullpen is still being sorted out as a 5-1 lead was handed to Luis Ayala and Boone Logan in the 9th. Unfortunately neither of them could get an out so the game was turned over to one of the most reliable relievers in all of baseball, Mariano Rivera.
Rivera allowed a couple of inherited runners to score but eventually shut the door to open the series in Cincinnati with a win.
