Game 92: Hughes Goes Solid 6

Phil Hughes looked to improve following his first start since returning from the disabled list. He went 6 innings and allowed just 2 runs on 80 pitches. Pitching coach Larry Rothschild adjusted the grip on Hughes’ curveball and it helped him along with good location on his low 90’s fastball. The bullpen was in full support of Hughes as Cory Wade, David Robertson, and Boone Logan went 3 perfect innings with 5 strikeouts, and for a fun note, Boone Logan struck out all 3 batters that he faced.

Curtis Granderson provided 3 runs in support of Hughes. The Yankees split the series as they head to Tampa Bay for a 4-game series.
