Game 95: Garcia & Granderson Get The W

Curtis Granderson’s good and bad adventures in Tropicana Field continued tonight. The good opened the game with a two-run home run. The bad included his assistance from leftfielder Brett Gardner on fly balls due to difficulties with the dome. Then the good returned when Granderson was forced to field a long drive by Evan Longoria, which he tracked down just as he crashed into the centerfield wall. Just as the game was coming to the last couple of innings, the bad returned as David Price slipped with a pitch and drilled the “4” in the “14” with a 95 mph fastball.

Freddy Garcia returned to his quality ways. He bent but did not break as usual by scattering 8 hits over 6.2 shutout innings. He also struck out 7.

This was the 1st time the Yankees defeated David Price at Tropicana Field.
