They may have given us a heart attack in the 9th inning, but a win is a win is a win.

There’s not much I can say about Jordan Montgomery that isn’t being screamed from the rafters by everyone watching him. He’s nails. He’s gutsy. He’s got a great curveball and he’s phenomenal at adjusting to the situation at hand. ‘Oh there’s a guy on third and I need a strikeout? No problem.’ 

White Sox Are Scared of Aaron Judge

Judge got walked three times in his five at bats. It seems the White Sox have decided they are not going to lose at the hands of MLB’s newest superstar. They’ll try their luck at the rest of the lineup.

This was not a problem for the Yankees. All six of their hits came from the 5-9 spots. Chase Headley counted for three of them. Tyler Austin even contributed with his first home run of 2017, which was an absolute bullet.

The Return of Mr. Boring

Jacoby Ellsbury came back from the DL and not only had a decent game, he also cracked a smile. If you don’t pay attention to each player’s smile rate I’ll fill you in. Jacoby almost never smiles or laughs… mostly due to his lack of a personality. I’ll take a hit, two runs and a smile out of him any day of the week though, bad contract and all!

 

The Bullpen was Scary!

Did the bullpen almost blow it? Yes. An error by Rob Refsnyder made us bring in Dellin Betances, who walked a guy then got out of it with a strikeout. Chasen Shreve made a costly mistake on a two-strike pitch. Aroldis Chapman came in and messed around for a little… at this point, I don’t even want to think about it. We won. You cane save that drama for another day. Today we’re gonna have a good day.
