Instant Reaction: Not being able to win back-to-back games is draining

Gut Reaction

Our inability to build momentum and win back to back games is draining.

Four Hits?

Today’s lineup was made up of the same nine guys who put up a six spot and won Monday. Today they looked asleep. Four hits, and two of them were dribbling infield singles. C’mon! Why can’t they build momentum and win back to back games? It’s getting infuriating. If we can’t win two in a row hopefully we can at least win Wednesday and take the series.

CC Did Not Pitch Well

Maybe CC Sabathia should have opted for that rehab start after all. You know, throw a couple innings in a game that doesn’t matter to fine tune the command and shake the rust off. I was all in when he didn’t want to make a rehab start. I thought it fit CC’s character perfectly. He wants the ball, he wants to help this team win games. I love that… but yeah, in retrospect, the rehab start sounds like it would have been smart.

He’s a polished vet these days and is used to making corrections. We need him to get back to where he was before the injury and I have faith he can find his way there.

Cessa May Have Found His New Role

Luis Cessa gave us 4.2 great innings Tuesday. We’ve seen that he has the stuff to pitch in this league and maybe long relief is the perfect spot for him to utilize it. Our bullpen has a ton of holes in it. If Cessa can keep us in games when our starters tank that will fill one of those holes nicely.

Goodbye Carter, Again

In between his DFA’s Chris Carter went 3/15 (.200) with 6 strikeouts. He also made two errors in the field. Today was the final second straw. Remember when Didi Gregorius replaced Derek Jeter and everyone talked about how he had such big shoes to fill it was going to be really hard for him? Well, the same goes for Ji-Man Choi here… except the exact opposite. As long as he can catch and competently put the ball in play, he’ll be a hero.
