Preview – Yankees vs Blue Jays 4/9/15

The big man is on the mound for his first start of the year and looks to put 2014 behind him. CC Sabathia was limited to just eight starts because of a right knee injury, but says he feels strong after having arthroscopic surgery. “It really does feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve been around the team and watched a game, a full game, the other day,” Sabathia said. “So it’s been a lot of fun and hopefully Thursday we can get it going.”

Sabathia has beaten the Blue Jays at least once in each of the last 11 seasons. He is 15-4 with a 3.13 ERA against them in his career and holds a 2.82 ERA with the Yankees.

Daniel Norris is ranked as the Blue Jays’ number one prospect by MLB.com. His strong spring won him a spot in the rotation after making his big league debut last year as a September call up. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 total innings and recorded his first strikeout against David Ortiz.

Norris being a lefty could change up the Yanks lineup a bit. Didi Gregorius and Carlos Beltran could get the day off giving Gregorio Petit and Chris Young their first starts of the year.

Tidbits:

This will be Sabathia’s first appearance since May 10, 2014.

Since his debut in 2001, Sabathia leads all pitchers in wins (203) and strikeouts (2,437.)
