Preview – Yankees vs Mets (4/24/15)

The Yankees come home from their road trip to start the Subway Series. Michael Pineda (2-0, 5.00 ERA) and Jacob deGrom (2-1, 0.93 ERA) will kick things off in game one. Pineda picked up his second win his last time out against the Rays. He pitched 5 2/3 innings limiting Tampa Bay to three runs. This will be Pineda’s first career start against the Mets, and he has only faced two of their current hitters: Curtis Granderson and Michael Cuddyer.

deGrom allowed a first inning home run in his season debut, but since then the reigning Rookie of the Year has been untouchable. He has thrown 18 1/3 scoreless innings; blanking the Marlins through seven his last time out giving up six hits with eight Ks. Mets pitchers have walked the second fewest batters in the Majors, and their hitters have struck out just 100 times, the third fewest in the league.

Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller have not allowed an earned run all season going a combined 16 2/3 innings. Mets closer Jeurys Familia leads the Majors with eight saves.
