NEW YORK — After slugging a long 435-foot home run, Giancarlo Stanton brought the literal thunder to Yankee Stadium as strong rains poured, with the Yankees taking home the seven-inning victory over Toronto, 7-5.

Though the Blue Jays got off to a quick 4-0 start in the first inning against Lance Lynn, New York immediately responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame.
First, it was a Didi Gregorius RBI-triple to open the scoring, before a Miguel Andujar double drove in the Yankee shortstop.
The Yankees then took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning. With two runners on, Neil Walker scorched a Marcus Stroman pitch deep into the seats to give New York a 5-4 lead.

While Toronto would immediately tie it in the fifth, Gleyber Torres beat out a throw in the same inning to give the advantage back to the Bombers.
Stanton would then hit his blast to put the finishing touches on a much-needed victory.
While it wasn’t the best start for Lynn, Chad Green and David Robertson combined to pitch the last three innings and keep the Jays off the scoreboard.
Luis Severino hopes to turn in a good start tomorrow as he faces Sean Reid-Foley.
