Yankees game 110 preview (8/9/15)

The Yankees need to salvage a win from this series to keep Toronto at bay. They will hand the ball to Masahiro Tanaka (8-4, 3.84 ERA) to face Marco Estrada (9-6, 3.40 ERA) in hopes of doing just that. Tanaka is coming off a three run, five hit, six inning outing against Boston where he picked up the W. He has had a home run problem as of late. He’s already given up more this season than he did all of last year.

Estrada is coming off back to back wins against the Royals and Twins. He gave up one run on two hits through 6 2/3 innings for his ninth win of the year. He has given up two earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts.

Tidbits:

Toronto has now won six of eight against the Yanks this season.

Tanaka is 3-1 with a 3.22 ERA against the Jays.

Josh Donaldson‘s 30 homers are the most by a Toronto third baseman since Troy Glaus‘ 33 in 2006.
