Yankees game 132 preview (9/4/15)

Luis Severino (2-2, 2.17 ERA) and the Yanks come home to take on Jake Odorizzi (6-7, 3.18 ERA) and the Rays in a three game set. Severino is coming off back to back wins, the most recent against the Braves. He worked six scoreless innings giving up just four hits. He has gone six innings in four of his five starts and hasn’t allowed more than three runs.

Odorizzi is coming off his first loss since July 17. He lasted just 4 2/3 against the Orioles, giving up four runs on seven hits. He is 1-1 this year against the Yanks, giving up three and four runs in 6 and 6 1/3 innings. He has a career 4.84 ERA and 1.36 WHIP against them.

Brian McCann owns Odorizzi. He is 10-16 (.625) with three doubles, a triple and two homers against him.

Some guys we see that are high caliber players, you have good results against. You can’t really explain why you do. Or why you don’t. It’s one of those things that can be a mystery, but you have to do your best to figure it out and keep moving on from it. But focusing on one person in the lineup, if I put all of my focus on him, chances are somebody else is in the lineup is going to beat you. -Jake Odorizzi
