Yankees game 24 preview (5/3/16)

The road trip continues with Luis Severino (0-3, 6.86 ERA) taking on Chris Tillman (2-1, 3.24 ERA) and the Orioles. Severino had a tough April and his still searching for his first W. He has had command issues with his fastball and slider, including his last start against Texas when he gave up six runs on seven hits through three innings. He faced Baltimore once last season, giving up three runs on five hits in a seven inning no decision.

Tillman is coming off 6.2 scoreless innings and nine K’s against the Rays. He went 1-1 in two starts against the Yanks last year, giving up six runs over 11 innings. A few Yankees have had success against him in his career: Mark Teixeira is 9-23 (.391) with three RBIs and three walks, Alex Rodriguez is 6-13 (.462) with four homers and nine RBIs, and Didi Gregorius is 4-7 (.571) with two doubles and a triple.

The O’s and Yanks finished the first month of the season on totally different tracks. Baltimore went 14-10 and were in first all April, while the Bombers went 8-15 and are stuck in the basement.
