Yankees game 26 preview (5/4/15)

Fresh off their sweet sweep of the Sox, Chase Whitley (1-0, 1.80 ERA) gets the ball for his second start of the year against R.A. Dickey (0-3, 5.23 ERA) in Toronto. Whitley will stay in the rotation for Masahiro Tanaka since he landed on the DL. He definitely earned another nod after giving up just one run on six hits through five against the Rays.

Dickey went seven innings in his last start against the Red Sox, which matched his season high. He didn’t walk a batter for the first time this year but he did allow four runs, including a two run homer that left him still searching for his first win. Dickey held the Yankees to a single run over 6 1/3 innings on April 8.

Dickey is very familiar with the Bombers. He is 6-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 17 games (11 starts) against them. In seven starts since the beginning of 2013, he has held the Yankees to 12 runs (11 earned) in 47 1/3 innings, a 2.09 ERA.

Tidbits:

The Blue Jays took two of three in the season opener.

Devon Travis leads all second basemen with seven homers, 23 RBIs and a .625 slugging percentage.
