Yankees game 26 preview (5/5/16)

Happy Cinco de Tanaka? Tanaka de Mayo? Tanaka Thursday! A series win is within the grasp of Masahiro Tanaka (1-0, 2.87 ERA) as he takes on Kevin Gausman (0-1, 2.45 ERA) in the O’s finale. Tanaka has thrown three quality starts in a row, but only has one win to show for it. He gave up two runs on six hits through 6.2 innings his last time out against Boston. However, Dellin Betances was un-Betances like and allowed two himself, causing Tanaka to take a no decision. In four career starts against Baltimore, he is 1-1 with a 3.03 ERA.

Gausman makes his third start of the year after starting it on the DL with shoulder tendinitis. He gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits through six innings his last time out against the White Sox. He has faced the Yanks 11 times in his career, making five starts. He has a 2.79 ERA across those appearances.

Tidbits:

Tanaka has allowed two earned runs in every start this season.

Alex Rodriguez landed on the DL yesterday with a strained hamstring.

Manny Machado is 11-24 (.458) with four extra base hits and five RBIs over his last six games.
