Yankees game 29 preview (5/8/16)

Luis Severino (0-4, 6.31 ERA) wants to give his mom a good Mothers Day gift, and in turn give Steven Wright (2-3, 1.67 ERA) and the Sox a sweep. Severino is still chasing that first win after his last start against the Orioles didn’t provide one. He gave up four runs (three earned) through six innings, but looked like he was improving. He faced Boston in his Major League debut last season, giving up two runs on two hits through five.

Knuckleballer Wright has gone at least six innings and allowed two runs or less in every one of his starts this season. He has made three appearances (two starts) in his career against the Yanks. He has 14 strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings.

Tidbits:

Opponents are hitting a measly .188 offย Wright.

Jacoby Ellsbury is day to day with his sore hip.

Carlos Beltran is the only Yankee with more than one hit off Wright. He is 2-4 with a double, a home run, a walk and two RBIs.
