Yankees game 31 preview (5/10/16)

The Royals get a taste of Masahiro Tanaka (1-0, 2.29 ERA) for the first time as he takes on Kris Medlen (1-3, 6.85 ERA) in game two. Tanaka has been pitching gem after gem, but only has one win to show for it. His last start was no exception. He threw eight scoreless innings with seven K’s, but took a no decision. He has given up two earned runs or less in each start this year.

While Tanaka is coming off a gem, Medlen is coming off a clunker. He lasted just two innings against the Nationals, giving up nine runs on six hits. This is his first time facing the Yanks since he saw them out of the Braves’ pen back in 2012. He pitched a scoreless ninth with one strikeout.

Tidbits:

Carlos Beltran has the most at bats against Medlen, going 3-12 (.250) with two RBIs.

The Three Headed Monster has finally been unleashed.

Starlin Castro should be back in the lineup after sitting out Monday with a sore oblique.
