David Phelps is trying to stop a 2 game losing streak for the Yankees tonight as they play the second game of a three game set in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies. Phelps is making his second start of the season and enters the game with a 1-1 record, a 5.56 ERA, and a 1.50 WHIP in 22.2 innings of work. He does, however, have 27 strikeouts, so look for his ability to get swings and misses to help him work out of jams. Phelps will have his work cut out for him though, as the Rockies have been an offensive juggernaut to begin this season. The Rockies are in the top 2 in the majors in: runs, hits, triples, home runs, total bases, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. That is impressive and something to keep in mind for tonight’s game. On the bump for the Rockies is Juan Nicasio, who is 3-0 with a 4.91 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. In 29.1 innings, Nicasio has surrendered a whopping 6 home runs already and has issued 15 walks. The Yankees are going to need to stay patient against Nicasio, who has far too many walks to begin the season. Here are the lineups for both teams:
