Yankees game 34 preview (5/12/15)

Nathan Eovaldi (3-0, 3.97 ERA) brings his undefeated record into the Trop to take on Chris Archer (3-4, 2.59 ERA) in game two. Eovaldi allowed three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Orioles to pick up the win his last time out. He has allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of his six starts. This will be his first career start against the Rays.

Archer allowed five runs on four hits and four walks with eight strikeouts in just 3 1/3 innings against Texas. “I thought about it for 24 hours and didn’t put much into afterwards because everybody has tough days at their job,” Archer said. “I thought about what I could do better, went out and worked on some things in the bullpen and I’m right back where I want to be.”

Archer has fallen on hard times as of late. He didn’t allow an earned run in four consecutive starts from April 11-26, but since then he has given up nine earned runs causing his ERA to go from 0.84 to 2.59. He has the Yanks number however, he is 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA in six career starts against them.
