Yankees game 42 preview (5/21/16)

Masahiro Tanaka (1-0, 3.51 ERA) is still hunting for his second win of the year, and will take on Sean Manaea (1-1, 7.91 ERA) in search of it. Tanaka gave up two earned runs or fewer in his first six outings, but has allowed 10 over his last two. He’s coming off a 6.2 inning, four run, eight hit no decision against the White Sox. In his last outing against Oakland, last July, he allowed two runs on two hits in a 7.2 inning win. This is his third time facing the A’s, first in Oakland.

The rookie Manaea is coming off his first Major League win, giving up one run on four hits through a career high 6.2 innings against the Rangers. The start before that against Boston, he only lasted 2.2 innings and gave up eight runs on eight hits. This is his first time seeing the Yanks.

Tidbits:

Tanaka is 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA over 13.2 innings in his career against Oakland.

Lefties are hitting .150 against Manaea, while righties are at .379 and have hit the four homers he’s allowed.

Only two A’s bats have hits off Tanaka. Stephen Vogt is 1-5 (.200) and Billy Butler is 1-3 (.333) with a double.
