Yankees game 46 preview (5/26/16)

CC Sabathia (3-2, 3.41 ERA) makes his second start off the DL looking to win the series against J.A. Happ (5-2, 3.43 ERA) and the Jays. Sabathia returned from the DL, and to his home state of California, with a bang. He held the Athletics to one run on three hits through six innings getting the W. This will be his first start of the year against Toronto, and he hasn’t seen them in over a year. Back on May 6, 2015, he took the loss allowing four runs on nine hits through 6.1 innings.

Alex Rodriguez is expected to rejoin the team today after a DL stint and two Double-A games. He went 1-2 with a homer yesterday for the Thunder.

“He looked pretty good,” Girardi said Wednesday. “I plan on activating him, and he will play tomorrow.”

His 240 starts against the Jays is the third most against any team, and his 58 homers off them is fourth most.

Happ was going to start on Friday, but was moved up due to an off day on Monday and the fact that the Yankees just can’t seem to hit him. He faced them back in April, allowing one run through six innings and got the win. In his last three starts against the Bombers, he is 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA.

Tidbits:

Sabathia has allowed one run over his last 13 innings.

ARod is 0-11 lifetime against Happ.

Carlos Beltran has the most at-bats against Happ, going 9-27 (.333) with three homers.
