Yankees game 57 preview (6/6/16)

Hometown stud Mike Trout and the Angels come to town for a four game set. Kicking things off will be Masahiro Tanaka (3-1, 2.78 ERA) and Matt Shoemaker (3-6, 5.50 ERA). Tanaka took his first loss of the season his last start against the Blue Jays. He allowed two runs (one earned) through seven innings. How did he lose after allowing just two runs? His offense pushed across zero runs for him. He has given up just three runs (two earned) over his last three starts and has allowed two earned runs or less in nine of his 11 starts this season.

Shoemaker struggled early this season, but has been on a tear lately. He has allowed just four runs and struck out 31 across his last three starts. His 33 strikeouts since his last walk is a team record. This will be his first time pitching at Yankee Stadium.

Tidbits:

The Yankees have won 12 of 17 games against the Angels dating back to the middle of 2013.

The Angels are 8-20 all time at the new Yankee Stadium.

Trout is batting .311 with 12 homers this season.
