Yankees game 59 preview (6/8/16)

The Yankees are on a two game win streak and inching closer to .500. Nathan Eovaldi (6-2, 4.09 ERA) takes the mound against Jered Weaver (5-4, 5.18 ERA) to close the door on the series. Eovaldi had a career best five game win streak snapped his last time out. He gave up five runs in 5.1 innings against Baltimore and came away with a no decision. However, he still hasn’t taken a loss in eight straight outings. The last time he faced the Angels, last season, he blanked them across 5.1 innings and got the win.

Weaver is coming off an impressive win against the Pirates his last time out. He held them to two runs on six hits through six innings for his sixth quality start of the season. In 15 career outings against the Yanks, he holds a 5.83 ERA. The last time he saw them, back in 2015, he gave up seven runs on nine hits (three homers) in a 5.2 inning loss.

Tidbits:

Weaver is 1-3 with a 8.71 ERA in the new Yankee Stadium.

Mike Trout is 4-10 (.400) with an RBI and two walks against Eovaldi.

Weaver has given up seven earned runs in two of his 11 starts this year.
