Yankees game 67 preview (6/19/15)

Adam Warren (4-4, 3.78) continues his impressive freshman season in the rotation against Justin Verlander (0-0, 3.60 ERA) and the Tigers. Warren gave up three runs on six hits against the Orioles, but thanks to Girardi pulling him for no reason after 4 2/3 innings, he was left with a no decision. He will look for his third career win against Detroit. He got the W on April 22 at Comerica Park, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings.

This will be Verlander’s second start of the year after spending time on the DL. He lasted 87 pitches his last time out against the Indians giving up two runs on three hits in five innings. Yankee Stadium has not been kind to Verlander. He’s 0-3 with a 4.26 ERA in six regular season starts. He has allowed nine home runs through 38 innings, including two in his last appearance in August.

ARod3K watch is officially in effect. He is one hit away. Rodriguez is 10-34 in his career against Verlander including the playoffs. Most of that damage has come recently, going 6-10 with three home runs since 2012.

Tidbits:

Victor Martinez will be back in Detroit’s lineup after spending 15 days on the DL.

The Yankees are 15-5 against the Tigers in regular season games at Yankee Stadium since 2009, including three out of four last August.

The Tigers haven’t won a regular season series in the Bronx since 2008.
