Yankees game 85 preview (7/9/15)

Masahiro Tanaka (4-3, 3.94 ERA) goes for the series win against Jesse Chavez (4-8, 3.20 ERA) in the finale at the stadium. Tanaka has allowed 14 runs and hasn’t gone past the sixth inning in his last three starts. He had a quality outing against the Rays in his last start, giving up three runs on six hits taking a no decision. This will be his second career start against Oakland.

Like Tanaka, Chavez has struggled as of late, giving up 12 runs in his last three starts with at least six hits in each. He took the loss against the Mariners his last time out, giving up four runs on nine hits including two homers. His eight losses is the second highest total by an A’s pitcher before the All Star break in the last 17 years. Despite the struggles, the Yanks are no problem for him. He is 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA in five appearances, three starts, against them in his career.
