Yankees game 87 preview (7/11/15)

Ivan Nova (1-2, 2.65 ERA) is on the mound to take on Eduardo Rodriguez (4-2, 3.69 ERA) in game two at Fenway. The Rays got four runs (three earned) off Nova his last time out through five innings handing him his second loss of the year. He is 3-3 with a 5.00 ERA in nine career appearances (eight starts) against Boston.

Rodriguez makes his first career start against the Yanks after taking a no decision against the Astros allowing just one run. He is 1-2 with a 7.08 ERA in four starts against the AL East.

The biggest story in this game is the long awaited arrival of second baseman Rob Refsnyder. With Stephen Drew hitting a pathetic .182 in 78 games this year, the Yankees number 5 prospect will get called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and make his Major League debut. Joe Girardi has not announced the corresponding move yet. Read everything you need to know about Refs here.

Tidbits:

David Ortiz is 6-19 (.315) lifetime against Nova.

Rodriguez has limited opponents to one or no runs in six starts.

Mike Napoli has 12 home runs off the Yanks since 2013, tied with Evan Longoria for the most against them over that span.
