Yankees game 88 preview (7/12/15)

The first half of the season comes to a close with Nathan Eovaldi (8-2, 4.45 ERA) and Wade Miley (8-7, 4.50 ERA) facing off for the series win. Eovaldi was pulled after 86 pitches against the A’s giving up just two runs on six hits. This will be his third career start against Boston. The other two came this year when he took a no decision in April and a win in May.

Miley is coming off a career high nine K’s against Marlins giving up three runs in 6 2/3 innings. He is 0-1 with a 3.65 ERA against the Yanks this year.

The Yanks will enter the break atop the AL East and the Sox at the Bottom. Baltimore is 3 games out, Toronto and Tampa Bay are 3.5 out while Boston brings up the rear at 5.5.

 

Tidbits:

Eovaldi has allowed three runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts.

Miley has thrown six consecutive quality starts at Fenway this year.

Brett Gardner is 4-9 with two doubles and three RBIs against Miley.
