Masahiro Tanaka (6-3, 3.65 ERA) closes out the Baltimore series against Ubaldo Jimenez (7-5, 3.29 ERA) in a matinee at the stadium. Tanaka beat the Mariners his last time out giving up three runs through seven innings. This will be his first time facing Baltimore this year as he looks for his first career win against them. After a few rocky starts, Tanaka said he’s starting to feel more like his self.
I think I’m really getting there, getting close to where I’d really like to be. Overall, I think it’s going uphill right now for me.
Jimenez is coming off his worst start of the year. He gave up seven runs, three homers, through 4 2/3 innings against Detroit. This will be his second start of the year against the Bombers. He got the win back in June giving up three runs on six hits through five innings.
