Yankees game 98 preview (7/27/15)

Ivan Nova (2-3, 3.34 ERA) and the Yankees travel to Texas to take on Matt Harrison (1-1, 5.40 ERA) and the Rangers in a four game set. Nova’s last start against Baltimore was his first quality outing since his return from Tommy John. He picked up the win, giving up two runs on three hits through six innings. He has gone six or more innings in three of his five starts this season.

Harrison got his first win since May 2014 in his last start against the Rockies. He threw six shutout innings with seven hits and one walk. This will be his third start of the year after missing 14 months due to spinal fusion surgery.

I need to build off last start and continue to be aggressive. Try to keep the ball down. The Yankees like to take pitches and make you work so I need to make them swing the bat. The most important thing is to keep the sinker down rather than moving side to side and mix it on both sides of the plate.

Tidbits:

Prince Fielder is hitting .353 with eight home runs, 25 RBIs and a .671 slugging percentage in 25 career games against the Yanks. That’s his highest average and slugging percentage against any team.

Today is ARod’s 40th birthday.

Texas swept the Yanks earlier in the season in New York, but have lost 10 of their last 11 home games.
