Yankees game 99 preview (7/28/15)

Chris Capuano (0-4, 5.64 ERA) makes a spot start against Martin Perez (0-1, 4.91 ERA) to give the rotation an extra days rest. Capuano’s last start came on May 29 against Oakland, when he gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits through 5 1/3 innings. His most recent appearances came out of the pen against the Twins on July 24. He gave up four runs on four hits, two homers, through one inning. He is 0-3 with a 6.39 ERA as a starter this season.

Perez is making his third start since coming back from Tommy John. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits through six no decision innings in his most recent outing against the Rockies. This will be his first home start since May 10, 2014. He has never faced the Yanks and Brendan Ryan has the most at bats against him going 1-7.

Chase Headley isย batting 24-65ย (.369) with six doubles, one homer and 11 RBIs since July 1.

Prince Fielder is 4-11 (.363) with two homers in his career against Capuano.

Lefties are 1-10 against Perez in his two starts this year.
