Houston Astros 4 — New York Yankees 3
Hiroki Kuroda made his second Spring start in tonight’s 4-3 loss to the Houston Astros. Kuroda pitched 3 innings with 2 hits, 2 strikeouts, and 2 walks. Despite not giving up any runs, Kuroda felt that he didn’t have his best stuff as he is known for his control and those 2 walks were uncharacteristic of him. Rafael Soriano followed Kuroda and was unable to complete an inning as he only managed to go 0.2 of an inning while allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Dellin Betances made an appearance and went 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts and notably no walks which is unusual for the wild prospect.
Nick Swisher tied the game in the 6th with a run-scoring triple. None of the Yankees managed to get more than 1 hit and Nick Swisher got the only extra-base hit of the game. JR Murphy drove in a run in the 9th but the Yankees fell a run short in the end.
