New York Yankees 5 — Toronto Blue Jays 7
Yankees pitching suffered from the long ball in today’s 7-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Freddy Garcia pitched 3 innings but left early after a comebacker hit him in the right hand. Garcia gave up 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 of third baseman Edwin Encarnacion’s 2 home runs. Cory Wade followed and also gave up a home run in his inning of work to catcher J.P. Arencibia. Prospect Manny Banuelos was also the victim of the home run to Edwin Encarnacion, a three-run home run, as well and his own lack of control through his inning of work with 3 hits, 4 runs, and 2 walks.
Curtis Granderson was one of the hard-hitting members of the Yankees offense with a pair of doubles and drove in one run. The other key offensive contributors were Dewayne Wise and Doug Bernier, each bringing in 2 runs.
