Yankees Spring Training Game 22: Offense Early For Win

New York Yankees 5 — Philadelphia Phillies 3

 

Hiroki Kuroda pitched 5.2 innings of one-run baseball in today’s other game, a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. In his 5.2 innings, Kuroda just gave up 1 run on 6 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Most of the bullpen got to rest through this game as David Phelps finished off the remaining 3.1 innings of work in which he gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, including 1 home run, and 1 walk.

 

The Yankees started the game with a double from Brett Gardner and a single by Francisco Cervelli. Robinson Cano followed with a double to bring in two and Eric Chavez finished off the instant offense off of Phillies starting pitcher Vance Worley with a single to put the Yankees ahead 3-0 early. Later, in the 7th inning, Doug Bernier drove in another run with a double.
