Yankees Spring Training Game 32: Walk-Off Loss to Mets

New York Yankees 6 — New York Mets 7

A walk-off home run by Mets first baseman Ike Davis put the Mets over the Yankees for the 7-6 loss today.

In his last start of the Spring, Ivan Nova struggled by just going 2.2 innings. In his short outing he surrendered 5 run on 8 hits. The two options for long relief made appearances today. David Phelps pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with 1 hit and 2 strikeouts. D.J. Mitchell pitched 3 innings but he gave up the game-tying run in his outing. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte got 2 outs in today’s game.

A five-run 6th inning put the Yankees ahead at the time with a series of singles by Andruw Jones, Doug Bernier, and Chris Dickerson. Nick Swisher continues to show he’s ready for the season to begin with. Swisher started the five-run 6th inning with a double and got the only run off of Mike Pelfrey with a solo home run.
