Yankees fans were ecstatic when news broke that star outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was slated to return earlier than expected. Now, according to manager Joe Girardi, it appears Ellsbury will be back right before the All-Star Break. It was thought Ellsbury had a chance to return in about two weeks, but since he can’t run at 100%, those chances are long gone.
The Yankees need a spark plug in their offense which Jacoby Ellsbury can provide. With Brett Gardner, newly brought up Mason Williams, and Jacoby Ellsbury, the Yankees would have a fast outfield and another strong lefty in their lineup. This would create a problem for struggling Carlos Beltran, but it would be a good problem to have.
Ellsbury not quite ready. Can't run at 100%. Will travel back to NYC w/ team. Girardi said he's hopeful he'll be back before all-star break
