Ben Gamel getting called up from RailRiders

23 year old outfielder Ben Gamel got the call to the Bigs and will join the team in Baltimore tonight. The news broke on Twitter from Gamel’s good friend with Jack Curry confirming.

Brett Gardner left yesterday’s game in the ninth inning after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow. X-rays after the game were negative, but he told Meredith Marakovits that his elbow was “a little sore and stiff.” With the Yanks facing a righty tonight, it wouldn’t surprise me if lefty Gamel was thrown right into the lineup. There is no word yet on if Gardner will go to the DL or what the corresponding roster move is.

In 23 games for Scranton so far this season, he hit .286/.346/.363/.709 with nine RBIs, 10 walks and seven stolen bags. He finished 2015 hitting .300 with 10 homers, 64 RBIs and 13 stolen bags.
