AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Ramon Ortiz tossed another gem for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight with six innings of shutout ball as the Yankees defeated Gwinnett 3-2. Ortiz allowed six hits and struck out two, but did not factor into the decision. That honor went to Manny Delcarmen, who took the win after cleaning up Juan Cedeno’s seventh inning mess where he failed to record an out while allowing three hits in as many batters. Brandon Laird was one of the offensive stars, hitting his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning. Francisco Cervelli and Ronnier Mustelier had the other two RBI for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Chris Dickerson scored twice and tripled in a three-hit performance.

AA: Trenton Thunder
David Adams hit a pair of home runs as he led the Thunder to a 9-4 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats on Wednesday night. Adams, 2-for-4 on the day, tallied four RBI in the effort. First baseman Luke Murton went 3-for-4 with a double and his 14th home run of the season – and fifth in his last ten games. Jose Pirela scored three times as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Brett Marshall turned in a quality start, returning from the disabled list to toss six innings. Marshall would allow just three runs on seven hits while striking out three. The outing earned him his eighth win of the season.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa’s offense couldn’t get anything going on Wednesday night, and they fell to Fort Myers 6-2. Only J.R. Murphy was able to scrape together a multi-hit game, and no one other than Rob Segedin had an extra-base hit. Tyson Blaser went 0-for-1, but reached three times with walks. Sean Black got hit hard as he took his fourth loss of the season. Black allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Aaron Dott and Tom Kahnle would take over from there and allow just three hits the rest of the way, but the damage had already been done.

Class A: Charleston RiverDogs
Charleston scored three in the 7th and three in the 8th to come from behind and defeat Savannah 8-5. Ali Castillo had the lone long ball for the RiverDogs with a two-run shot in the third inning to get things rolling offensively. In the 7th, Dante Bichette, Jr. came up big with a two-run double, scoring both Tyler Austin and Gary Sanchez. In the 8th inning, a pair of errors by Savannah led to three runs, giving the RiverDogs their final lead of the day. Wilton Rodriguez didn’t do much to help his own cause, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings pitched. Mariel Checo took the win for Charleston with two shutout innings to finish out the game.
